AUSTIN (KXAN) writes, "The U.S. Housing market may enter a “great reset” on home prices in 2026, according to a report from the real estate company Redfin.

“It won’t be a quick price correction, and it won’t be a recession,” the report states. “Instead, the Great Housing Reset will be a years-long period of gradual increases in home sales and normalization of prices as affordability gradually improves. It will start next year, with incomes rising faster than home prices for a prolonged period for the first time since the Great Recession era [2008].”

The report was written by Redfin’s Chief Economist Daryl Fairweather and Head of Economics Research Chen Zhao.

Zhao and Fairweather made 11 predictions in the report, most of which focused on the…

Austin Business Journal writes, "LV Collective contends multifamily developers can learn a lot from the student housing world.

Student housing "is more innovative because when we start developing, our demographics are 14 (years old), and by the time we deliver, they're 18 or 19," said David Kanne, CEO of LV Collective, a national developer of both student and multifamily housing.

"We have to be thinking so far in the future that we are accustomed to constantly improving and dialing in, coming from that world," he said. "We force ourselves to think ahead … and because we have to get so far ahead of our consumer, we are always thinking way further ahead than most people that are doing the same product.”

Kanne made the comments while walking…

CultureMap Austin shares, "Restaurant reservations and reviews platform OpenTable has examined its data to determine the top 100 restaurants in the country for 2025, and Austin has an enormous slice of the pie — especially when it comes to Texas. Austin was represented eight times on the list, followed by one each in Houston and Dallas.

OpenTable emphasizes that professional critics didn't compile this list. Instead, it's based on more than 10 million reviews by verified OpenTable diners along with other metrics. A restaurant had to have a minimum threshold of reviews to be considered — so no matter how great a new restaurant is, it might be too early to count it — and further data included the percentage of five-star reviews, number of alerts set,…

CultureMap Austin reports, "If you’re shopping for a home in the Austin area, this might be a great time to make a purchase.

A new report from residential real estate platform Redfin ranks Austin as the second-best buyer’s market among the country’s 50 largest metro areas. In a buyer’s market, prospective homeowners wield an advantage over sellers, strengthening their ability to score a bargain.

San Antonio pulled just ahead of Austin to claim the top spot on the list.

The report shows that in October, there were 117 percent more sellers than buyers in the San Antonio area — the highest percentage across the 50 biggest markets. In second place: the Austin metro area, where there were 115 percent more sellers than buyers. Across the country,…

Realtor.com writes, "Located some 900 miles apart, Austin, TX, and Nashville, TN, have emerged from the COVID-19 pandemic era as thriving boomtowns with strong job growth, rapid in-migration, and high quality of life—so it comes as no surprise that both metros now rank among the nation's top luxury housing markets.

Each city attracts throngs of wealthy buyers looking to snap up trophy properties in amenity-rich communities. However, according to the latest research from Realtor.com®, Nashville and Austin's price trends and inventory shifts tell two different stories.

The main difference between the two popular Southern luxury markets lies in their stages of maturity, explains Realtor.com senior economist Anthony Smith: Nashville's high-end…

Austin Business Journal writes, "The noise from airplanes can cost homeowners thousands of dollars when they sell.

A working paper published by the National Bureau of Economic Research analyzed changes in flight paths and overall airplane noise in residential neighborhoods near several airports and the prices homes secured when they subsequently sold.

The research found that for every 1% increase in airplane noise exposure for a home, that home sold for 0.2% to 0.3% less than comparable homes without an increase in airplane noise. That implies that for every 1-decibel increase in average noise, property values drop by 0.6% to 1%.

“The magnitude of our estimates suggests that aircraft noise remains a significant disamenity for households,…

Realtor.com reports, "After weeks of delayed data, we finally have an update on the labor market—and it’s not exactly what most people expected.

Data that was delayed by the federal government shutdown is starting to trickle out. We learned that hiring was more robust than many expected in September, with 119,000 jobs added in the month—largely in the health care, food services, and social assistance industries. Still, some sectors saw job declines, including transportation and warehousing and the federal government.

Although government data on unemployment insurance claims has been remarkably stable, private data shows a jump in layoff announcements in 2025. Against this hiring and separations backdrop, the unemployment rate trended up to 4.4%…

Two national homebuilders have partnered up to buy more than 200 acres between Georgetown and Round Rock.

Taylor Morrison and M/I Homes bought Georgetown 220, a roughy 220-acre tract near the intersection of University Boulevard and State Highway 130, according to an announcement. The undeveloped land was sold for an undisclosed price by a joint venture between Ascent Investment Partners and Endeavor Real Estate Group.

Neither Taylor Morrison nor M/I Homes responded to requests for comment, and it's unclear how many homes each plans to build at the site. But the land is already entitled for single-family development, said Rydern Byrne, an investment associate at Ascent Investment Partners.
