Austin Business Journal shares, "Canyon Ranch Austin Wellness Resort is bringing a resort and more homes to Spicewood.
About one year ago, Canyon Ranch filed plans for its first Austin location with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation. The approximately $122 million project, according to TDLR, is on track for completion and a fall 2026 debut, said CEO Mark Rivers in a statement. The project’s legal name is CR Austin Resort LLC.
Canyon Ranch will be on 600 acres along Lake Travis, located at 600 Moonlight Bend, and will feature state-of-the-art facilities for health, fitness, performance, dining, lodging, outdoor adventures and what is said to be the largest spa in Texas. The approximately 224,000-square-foot resort sits about 30 miles away from downtown Austin.
Sales have begun, and the resort is debuting its Ranch Home Collection in Austin next year, according to Rivers' statement — homes will average at about $4 million, according to Rivers. The ranch will have 134 home lots with homes ranging between 2,800 to 4,700 square feet, designed by Lake Flato Architects and constructed by Vitek-McIver Homes, according to its website. All units will have a plunge pool, infrared sauna and outdoor astronomy ledge.
Canyon Ranch's project was initially announced in 2023 after the company said it would receive $150 million from investment trust VICI Properties Inc. as part of its expansion plans.
Fort Worth-based Canyon Ranch has locations in Arizona, California, Massachusetts, Las Vegas and Fort Worth.
Spicewood could also be getting another resort-style project through Miami-based Crystal Lagoons US Corp. with a 3-acre crystalline lagoon at the Ascensions on Lake Travis master-planned community at 25904 Haynie Flat Road. This project is planned to include luxury residential units, retail boutiques, restaurants, areas for concerts and events and a hotel development with the lagoon as its centerpiece."
