Austin Business Journal writes, "A sprawling master-planned community in Hutto is coming along as another homebuilder opens up sales within it.
Nevada-based Tri Pointe Homes, one of the busiest volume homebuilders in the metro, now has homes ready to purchase in the master-planned community, said Bryan Havel, Tri Pointe’s Austin division president. Work on Flora, an 835-acre project in Hutto developed by Precedent Land Company, began in March 2024.
Other homebuilders involved in the first phase of Flora, which Havel said is being built on about 50 acres, include Brightland Homes, Meritage Homes, Empire Communities, Perry Homes, Highland Homes and Westin Homes, according to Flora’s website. Of those, Westin is the only homebuilder not marketing homes under construction or move-in ready on Flora's website.
Homes at Flora cover the $300,000 to $700,000 range.
Hutto is growing fast, and Flora will help support the trend. The city’s population more than doubled from 14,698 residents in 2010 to an estimated 38,765 in July 2023, according to the U.S. Census Bureau. Williamson County has been growing as well, with its population climbing from 422,679 in 2010 to an estimated 697,191 in July 2023.
At full build-out, Flora will have 2,800 homes, according to previous reporting. The first phase of construction consists of around 400 homes, and Havel said that Tri Pointe has 58 of the homesites.
Tri Pointe’s homes at Flora will be priced beginning in the $300,000s and range from 1,600 to 2,750 square feet. The company has both homes available for immediate move-in as well as opportunities to build from the ground up. Tri Pointe ranked as the 10th most active homebuilder on ABJ's annual list of volume homebuilders.
Construction is also underway on a six-acre market square. Construction on Flora’s market square amenity complex is also underway and set to be complete this summer. That six-acre project will host farmers markets, festivals and other social events and activities. KW Landscape Architects and Studio Red Architects designed the project and Construction Managers of Austin is building the 6,150-square-foot main building, 3,442-square-foot pool building, 2,174-square-foot garden pavilion and 960-square-foot playground pavilion."
