The Highland Park area is situated on a hill at several hundred feet elevation so views are plentiful here.

This community dates back to 1947 and has continued to develop over the years. The Highland Park neighborhood hosts several parks and nature preserves as well as a historic military post that is still functioning to this day.

Highland Park homes feature a mix of styles and sizes, both modest mid-century homes and grand estates, in an area with large lots and mature trees. Small, 1-story ranch-style homes mix comfortably with 2-story contemporary homes in stone and stucco. With an average size of over 3,600 square feet, and built in the 1950s, the neighborhood is well-established with residences and yards that have developed character over the years. Many of the homes have been remodeled or added onto. There's been new construction, and you can still find a few homes that are in their original state.

Highland Park is a small, close knit community, with a few local favorites include Russell's Bakery, Chez Zee, and Crenshaw's Athletic, which has gymnastics, an afternoon school program, and summer camps.

The community organizes events throughout the year, such as movie night at Perry Park, an Easter egg hunt, and a fourth of July parade and picnic. Perry Park is located between Balconies Drive and Highland Park Elementary. It has tennis courts, playgrounds, soccer fields, picnic tables, a running track, and walking trails.
