Scotsman Guide writes, "Austin, Texas, is the best city for recent graduates this year, thanks to high beginning salaries, an abundant supply of apartments and a vibrant social scene, according to a new report from Zillow.

The real estate website’s 2025 list of the best cities for college graduates had a strong Sun Belt theme. Texas dominated the top five choices of the survey, with first-place Austin being followed by Dallas at No. 3 and San Antonio at No. 4. Rounding out the top five are Albuquerque, N.M., in second place and Charlotte, N.C., in fifth place.

Austin Business Journal reports, "the Austin area has retaken the top spot on the Milken Institute's prestigious 2024 Best-Performing Cities list.

Such a listing will undoubtedly draw the eyes of people looking for a new place to live or start a business, and it combats anyone's perception that Austin has passed its prime.

The index from the nonprofit think tank has been published annually since 1999 and ranks cities on a variety of metrics, including job creation, wage growth and output growth. Designed to help the public and private sectors evaluate and compare cities throughout the nation, the list is particularly handy for Realtors, job recruiters and site selectors.

For years, Austin has starred on all sorts of lists — best cities for millennials, best cities for tech workers, best places to live, and so forth. Now, we’ve earned perhaps the nicest accolade a city can receive.

Language-learning app Preply surveyed more 1,500 residents of the country’s largest metropolitan areas to determine which cities are home to the politest people and the rudest people. Fortunately, Austin topped the list of the polite cities (or, put another way, the least rude ones).
