Austin Business Journal shares, "More rooftops are set for Uhland as the town sits on the cusp of an anticipated boom.
The 88-acre Watermill neighborhood, which was developed by Ranch Road Development, is yielding 327 homesites south of Austin.
Builders KB Home and D.R. Horton are constructing their third and final round of Watermill homes. KB Home recently announced one- and two-story houses are selling in the mid-$200,000 to mid-$300,000 range.
The new community falls in the Hays Consolidated Independent School District and includes a playground, park and walking paths for residents. According to Ranch Road Development lotting plans, Uhland's new city hall will be a direct neighbor to the development.
D.R. Horton and KB Home are among the top volume homebuilders in the Austin area, having sold $929 million and $401 million of homes in the region, respectively, according to ABJ's 2025 list of volume homebuilders. At last count, D.R. Horton had 16 active subdivisions in the metro, and KB Home had 17.
Beyond Watermill, Uhland is preparing for an influx of new residents and economic development.
Tract has plans for a nearly 3,000-acre data center campus nearby, and homebuilders have increasingly looked to Uhland for its proximity to fast-growing cities like Kyle and Lockhart.
As of last October, Uhland's official population was 1,885. Based on home platting, current estimates show Uhland could soon add 18,000 residents — a tidal wave of growth that's turning the heads of real estate investors.
As more homes go up in Uhland, Ron Merill, president of the Uhland Economic Development Corp., previously said the town is courting a range of retail development, as well as clean and tech-adjacent manufacturers."
