Austin Business Journal shares, "A big development in Lockhart will add about 1,400 homes to the fast-growing city south of Austin.

Houston-based Perry Homes is already hard at work building infrastructure for its Juniper Springs neighborhood, which will total about 400 acres, said Chris Little, president of Perry Homes Central Texas. The neighborhood also will have a new elementary school that will be part of the Lockhart Independent School District, according to an announcement.

“Heavy infrastructure work [at Juniper Springs] has been underway,” with completions of lots expected this summer and model homes ready to tour in the fall, Little said.

CultureMap Austi shares, "Applications are now open for a new affordable townhome community in South Austin slated to be completed in March.

The development, called Industry Soma, is located near William Cannon Drive and South Menchaca Road, at 1905 Keilbar Ln.

The 23 townhomes are a collaboration between developer Industry ATX and the Austin Housing Finance Corporation. Prices will range from $235,000 to $270,000, with the goal of providing the opportunity for homeownership and attracting and retaining families with generational ties to the neighborhood.

Parker Lane Apartments officially opened on the morning of Saturday, November 16, and is now accepting applications.

Nonprofit Foundation Communities said its goal is to bring more affordable housing for families to the city.

Rent prices start as low as $600 and are income-based. On top of an affordable apartment, the community also offers sustainable green features and on-site services such as a healthy food pantry and a no-cost learning center for after-school and summer programs.

Austin Business Journal reports, "Minneapolis-based United Properties LLC has opened its first two Austin-area multifamily properties, and it has plans for more.

The pair of projects, located in South Austin, add hundreds of apartments to the city. Victor Young, senior vice president of Austin commercial development at United Properties, said the company has additional multifamily developments in its pipeline but nothing to announce yet.

The first of the two projects is Bishop Momo, located at 4341 S. Congress Ave. in the St. Elmo District. Bishop Momo is a 274-unit property with one- and two-bedroom apartments, according to an announcement. Overall, the property is 256,510 square feet.

Austin Business Journal reports, "one of the biggest property owners in South Austin’s St. Elmo Arts District acquired a whole lot more real estate in the neighborhood in December.

Austin-based Veloway Threads — owners of The Yard and other properties where business such as Icon, Tesla, Still Austin and St. Elmo Brewing lease space — purchased eight properties within the district last month, said Priscilla Sauceda, vice president of operations and community at Veloway Threads. The area, which a few years ago was a sleepy industrial hub, has piqued the interest of many developers and is rapidly changing into a mixed-use destination.

According to Austin Business Journal, "There’s another industrial development sprouting in the fertile I-35 corridor.

Mississippi-based EastGroup Properties Inc. broke ground Sept. 12 on Stonefield 35, a 275,559-square-foot project in Buda, the company announced Sept. 22. The development comes amid impressive growth, especially for industrial space, in the corridor between Austin and San Antonio.

The development will be built on about 21 acres at the northeast corner of I-35 and Robert S. Light Boulevard. EastGroup is constructing three buildings with varied dimensions.

The largest building will be 148,233 square feet and equipped with 51 dock doors and two ramps, according to marketing material. The building will have 195 parking spaces.
