Realtor.com reports, "Mortgage applications decreased 1.9% from one week earlier, according to data from the Mortgage Bankers Association’s (MBA). It's an about-face from the week prior when home loans saw a 7.1% increase.

This comes as mortgage interest rates dipped to 6.17% for the week ending Oct. 30, according to Freddie Mac. That's the fourth straight week of declines after the Federal Reserve cut interest rates for the second time this year.

The Market Composite Index, a measure of mortgage loan application volume, decreased 1.9% on a seasonally adjusted basis from one week earlier.

Realtor.com reports, "Home loan applications slightly ticked up 1.1% for the second week, but are trending lower than last week when overall applications increased 11%.

The latest data from the Mortgage Bankers Association's Weekly Mortgage Applications Survey shows a 1.1% increase on mortgage loan application volume on a seasonally adjusted basis from one week earlier. The refinance index decreased 0.4% from the prior week but was 44% higher than the same week one year ago.

Real Estate News writes, "After a steady three-week decline, mortgage rates barely budged this week — and home sales have grounded to a halt as buyers wait to see what the Federal Reserve will do.

The 30-year fixed-rate mortgage averaged 6.78% this week, nearly unchanged from last week's 6.77% average, according to the latest Freddie Mac survey. The 15-year fixed-rate was also up slightly, to 6.07%.

Rates appear to be in a bit of a holding pattern ahead of next week's Federal Reserve meeting. The agency is not expected to cut interest rates at the July meeting but will likely signal whether cuts are coming soon.
