Up until 2018, Grossman and Jones each had their own businesses at a boutique real estate company in Austin. When they got word that Compass, the nation’s largest independent luxury brokerage, was coming to town, they decided to become business partners and join as founding agents.

“Having that national network of agents has been really helpful for us because we have clients who move to and from other states,” Jones said. “Being able to put them in touch with other top realtors in the area who will take really good care of their needs has been invaluable.”

With decades of experience, the company does things a bit differently. While the Grossman & Jones Group still pays attention to national and local real estate trends, Grossman said the best way to know what’s going on in a market is to be there.

“The way we conduct our business is really boots-on-the-ground and focusing and keeping our head down on what's important, which is our business and clients,” Grossman said.

For sellers, the team sets aside time to meet in-person, go over the house and learn about its features. The agent will take time to understand clients’ goal timeline and then help prepare the home for staging to portray it in its best light. Grossman and Jones also work with who Jones considers the best photographer in town to provide professional photography and videography they can then market for their clients.

“We cover every possible marketing angle for our listings, and when it’s time to negotiate, we take pride in getting as much as we possibly can for our clients home, guiding them through the process and then finishing with a happy client a smooth transaction,” Jones said. “We like to keep those relationships alive even after closing. We keep in touch with our clients. They know they can call us for advice moving forward.”

For buyers, Grossman and Jones learn about the client’s lifestyle and ask what type of home they envision themselves living in. The company also has a full-time showing agent who can help clients see practically any property they’re interested in. Jones said getting clients access to privately listed properties and making sure they can see them quickly is a top priority for the team.

“We really turn over rocks to try to find just the right house for clients,” Jones said. “...There are over 100 steps in a buyer transaction and each of those is communicated and discussed. We make sure that they understand and that all their questions are answered.”
