CultureMap Austin shares, "A new luxury development breaking ground near Fredericksburg might have Hill Country oenophiles ready to break out the bubbly. Querétaro, Mexico lifestyle company and winemaker Puerta del Lobo has uncorked a new wine-inspired project that will combine a working winery, event spaces, and massive lots with private vineyards along Wine Road 290.
The ambitious development is the first project for the Mexican winemaker within the United States. The site will be similar to a 2014 Querétaro flagship that blends wine tourism accommodations and fine dining. A press release says the Hill Country tract will eventually include “chef-led restaurants, green areas, recreational amenities, a clubhouse, a wedding venue, an exclusive boutique hotel, and attached commercial areas.”
And, of course, Texas’ toniest connoisseurs will have the chance to live the vineyard life whenever they want. The plots, located 54 miles from Austin and 70 miles from San Antonio, are three-plus acres, offering land for testing out the future owner’s favorite varietals. Puerta del Lobo says it will offer owners the opportunity to craft their own personal wine with support from a master winemaker.
“Our vision for Texas is to bring the spirit of Puerta del Lobo to a region that already has such a strong identity and tradition of hospitality and wine,” said Luis Miguel Correa, CEO, via a release. “Just as our family has done in Mexico, we want to create a place that feels authentic to its setting, while offering a destination that elevates local culture, celebrates wine, and builds community.”
