The Salvation Army is selling its parcel at East 7th Street and Red River Street, which currently has two buildings and a half-acre surface parking lot. The larger of the structures is the former Salvation Army Downtown Center at 501 East 8th Street, and the other is a 1,500-square-foot retail building at 718 Red River Street, which sits noticeably tenantless amid a string of happening bars and restaurants.

Austin Business Journal reports, "IBM Corp. has lined up a new home in Austin — it should be move-in ready in 2027.

Big Blue, which back in September solicited proposals for a new office hub in the Texas capital, has decided to move into a newly proposed development by Hines at the northern tip of The Domain, said Joanne Wright, an IBM senior vice president. It has leased space in two 14-story towers proposed on the site of a La Quinta Inn and Suites at 11901 N. MoPac Expy. — not far from IBM's current campus at 11501 Burnet Road.

It will mean a new home in Austin for IBM (NYSE: IBM), one of the original big tech employers in the city, and its roughly 6,000 employees.

Austin Business Journal reports, "Dripping Springs City Council will this week consider annexing and rezoning nearly 100 acres, clearing the way for hundreds of homes to rise in the fast-growing city west of Austin.

The property in question is a 97.4-acre slice of land located along U.S. Route 290 just east of Dripping Springs, according to the meeting agenda. If the annexation goes ahead and the land is rezoned as a planned development district, the project, known as Gateway Village, could have 307 single-family homes with lot widths of 50 to 60 feet. Plans also call for 7.2 acres of commercial land and 22.36 acres of open space.

Austin Business Journal shares, "the end of construction is in sight for the Sixth and Guadalupe high-rise. But already, the view from the top of Austin's tallest building is unlike anything else in the city.

The 66-story mixed-use tower, which broke ground in 2019, could welcome its first apartment residents in October, said Tony Curp, senior vice president of development at Kairoi Residential. Sixth and Guadalupe is being developed by Kairoi, which is handling the residential portion; Lincoln Property Co., which is handling the commercial portion; and investor DivcoWest.
