Austin Business Journal reports, "Developers behind the Leander Springs project near Austin reaffirmed their commitment to build the billion-dollar, 78-acre lagoon-centered mixed-use project despite numerous challenges — including owing millions to contractors and losing their incentives agreement.

Austin-based iLand Development Group on June 18 said it "is moving forward with confidence" despite the setbacks and has submitted amendments to its development agreement and planned unit development.

Austin Business Journal shares, "An East Austin lumber yard could be redeveloped into hundreds of multifamily units.

The 300-plus-unit project is planned at the former site of Eastside Lumber & Decking near the intersection of East Cesar Chavez Street and North Pleasant Valley Road.

The developer of the project, JLB Cesar Chavez, is Dallas-based JLB Partners, according to a filing with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation. The property owner is an entity called TRG Cesar Burleson LLC, according to Travis Central Appraisal District. The address of TRG Cesar Burleson LLC matches that of Dallas-based Trinsic Residential Group.

Austin Business Journal reports, "Nearly 1,000 homes are on tap for Round Rock.

Round Rock City Council on June 12 unanimously approved multiple agenda items that saw 230 acres annexed into the city, as well as that land getting turned into a municipal utility district with a development agreement.

The MUD will be built out by New Home Co., according to its Austin Division President Bill Peckman, who spoke at the meeting. The owners of the property at the intersection of Westinghouse Road and County Road 110 are Debra Kay Briggs and Marc Briggs, according to the development agreement.

Overall, there would be 900 single-family homes in the new neighborhood, and Peckman said the home lots would be 50, 60 and 70 feet. The project is on a 10-year…

While deliveries of multifamily projects in the Austin area have been forecast to decline in the coming years, some are still being planned.

From The Domain to South Congress Avenue, developers have projects on tap ranging from townhome complexes to mid-rise apartment buildings, according to three site plan applications filed with the city. They're in the works at a time when uncertainty swirls around the metro's multifamily market and a number of other projects have been canceled or delayed.

A big mixed-use development is being planned in the St. Elmo District.

The development, known simply by its address of 4201 S. Congress Ave., would feature around 200,000 square feet of retail, restaurant and office space in multiple mid-rise buildings at the intersection of South Congress Avenue and Industrial Boulevard, according to a site plan application filed with the city.

The developer and owner of the property is an entity called 4201 S Congress Ave Owner LLC, the address of which matches that of California-based developer Redcar Properties, which is developing a creative office project farther south in the St. Elmo District. Redcar did not respond to requests for comment.

CultureMap Austin writes, "Austin is trying to accommodate its housing demand by building more homes than most other U.S. cities, a new report has found.

According to a new ConsumerAffairs housing report, Austin has the ninth highest rate of new home construction in the nation for 2025. The research platform analyzed new building permits and new construction home sales from January and February 2025 in the 150 largest U.S. cities.

Houston (No. 1) and Dallas (No. 2) led the nation as the top two cities building the most new homes this year.

The findings revealed there were 3,889 new building permits issued during the first two months of the year in Austin, and 520 newly built homes were sold during that same period.

Austin Business Journal writes, "Liberty Hill’s Santa Rita Ranch just keeps growing.

The sprawling 3,700-acre development — where more than 4,000 homes have been sold — is already the region’s fastest-growing neighborhood. Now, 1,000 more homes are going to be added to the community, according to an announcement.

Perry Homes will build the new homes in an area called Eldorado Village. They'll rise on 50-, 60- and 70-foot lots, with 66 different floor plans available to buyers. Floor plans will range from 2,100 square feet to 4,891 square feet.

Austin Business Journal writes, "Ashton Woods Homes is bringing hundreds of new homes to a rural stretch of highway near Creedmoor. 

The Georgia-based homebuilder and its Starlight Homes brand will build 523 homes in its new Willow Springs neighborhood along State Highway 45 just outside Creedmoor, according to an announcement. Creedmoor is a rural community about 20 miles south of Austin that had a population of just 423 people in 2024, according to the U.S. Census Bureau — meaning the homes, if occupied, would dramatically increase the population of the area.

Willow Springs will rise on roughly 48 acres near the intersection of Williamson, Turnerville and Old Lockhart roads.

Austin Business Journal shares, "Plans for another mixed-use residential tower downtown took a step forward this week. 

The Austin Planning Commission approved the proposed 66-story tower at 701 W. Sixth St. for inclusion in the city's downtown density bonus program on May 13, which would allow for the project to double its floor area ratio from 15:1 to 30:1. 

The project could have 413 residential units and retail space, according to city documents. It's in a capitol view corridor, however, which limits how tall certain parts of it could go regardless of the density bonus program.
